What is a Financial CoacH?

Updated: Jul 7, 2023

I get this question a lot when I explain what I do. So here’s a bit of a taster on what financial coaching is all about….

The whole financial world can be a minefield – so much jargon and so much information – everywhere, in the press, on blogs, on personal finance websites…. You just think, where on earth do I start with all this? And then, because it’s hard to know where to start, you do nothing at all.

A financial coach can help you to untangle all that overload of information, help you with any blocks that are making you feel stuck, empower you to get the skills and tools to build your financial future. And when you feel like you’re having a wobble and are about to fall off the financial freedom path, a coach will provide that support to listen to your concerns, and gently and effectively get you back on track.

It’s a bit like having a best friend who knows a bit about finances and can be your sounding board and keep you accountable - without any judgement.

A financial coach doesn’t give investment advice or sell products; that’s the role of a financial advisor. And coaches will charge a fixed fee for working with you. They don’t earn commission, nor do they charge fees based on the value of your portfolio.

So, if you think you’d like to tackle those financial jobs you’ve been putting off for a while, and give financial coaching a go, please get in touch for a free 30 minute call.

In my regular blog I’ll be looking at some of the topics around money that come up the most frequently. If you have any you’d like me to address, feel free to get in touch.
